The Avatar experience – The Quality of a great movie versus the cost of seeing it

Well I must say this was an amazing film and an outstanding effort by James Cameron and although I am not a fan of applauding a film after it has finished unless of course its a preview or premiere, this one had me wondering if this was worthy of a clap anyway.

From the spectacular alien world beyond imagination to the crisp 3D graphics provided by James Cameron’s new proprietary FUSION digital 3D camera system, Cameron made use of revolutionary image-based performance capture techniques, and a real-time virtual camera system, to create new CG worlds and blend them with dramatic performances and live action in ways never before possible. The overall film was a wash of mind-blowing High Definition 3D animation and an outstanding story that leaves you hanging off the end of your seat for all 162 minutes of it. if you haven’t got a chance to see James Cameron’s Avatar yet it is well worth seeing it while it is in cinema as the 3D experience of a 4K projector can not be replicated in a home environment.

Unfortunately the cost of seeing a film in full stereoscopic 3D is now reasonably high. with the cost of the seats the glasses and an additional b0oking fee my girlfriend and I were disappointed to see no change from $50, but if the quality of the film is as high as Avatar then I would have no problem paying this amount.

Avatar is for me the best film of the year and would definitely rank in the top 5 best films I have ever seen.

  1. I clapped, and I have no regrets! I’d love to see it again – but really can’t afford it when they charge so much.

Do we REALLY need to pay extra to see a movie in 3D, or do they just whack on extra fees because they know die-hard fans will pay it? Does the extra cash go back to the movie makers, or just line the cinema’s cash flow? Sure, 3D costs more to make and project, but it seems like a major rip off.

But damn, it was one sexy movie.
